Key Stage One Curriculum

1Year One and Year Two share the same topic each term and non core subjects such as history, geography, art and computing are taught on a two year rolling programme.

Most English lessons are taught using the topic as a stimulus although children are taught to blend sounds to read and segment sounds to spell in separate daily Phonics sessions.  Daily guided reading sessions and handwriting practise sessions also take place in Year One and Year Two.

Maths lessons are taught separately although links to the termly topic are made where appropriate.

RE is taught through the diocesan scheme ‘Learning and growing as the people of God’.

Music and PE are taught separately although links to the termly topic are made where appropriate.
